Being creative

Mary Lou Cook is quoted as saying “Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.”

Inventors, at heart, are creative. Creativity is about inventing and inventing is about creativity. Avid inventors are tasked with coming up with practical solutions to problems for a receptive audience of consumers. Achieving a great final product will involve some experimenting to test the product to see if it works safely and as intended in its best form. The best form is a simplified tangible solution that serves a need of the customer.

Inventing is not easy by nature and takes patience and time while you research, learn and implement. Some inventors are comfortable working within their creative zone and may be scared to push out of their comfort zone. We encourage you to push out of your comfort zone into the creative zone, so you can expand your horizons. This may involve taking qualified risks so you can experience an inventive leap. Do not fear making mistakes as you learn so you can consistently do amazing inventive work. Mistakes are part of the process of learning!

Creativity is learned as I discuss in my book. Creativity is actively problem solving in a novel way. Creativity relies on imagination and is limited by it as well. The more you learn the more creative you can be!

Creative  thinkers, inventors, are good at creating possible alternatives to a problem to form a suitable unique solution. It takes courage to risk breaking with routine to attempt solving an unmet need. Don’t quash your creativity out of self-doubt or fear. Conquer any self-doubt and fear and forge forward.

Creative thinkers who are consistent and realize long term success don’t depend on their natural ability but rather dive into divergent thinking skills and deliberately expose themselves to new learning and experiences each day for self-improvement. Look for wise mentors and know in your heart and mind that creativity requires continued strategic effort.

Each person and business should strive to learn cumulatively throughout their lifetime. Creativity is a gift to be responsibly honed. It is difficult to replicate and that’s why  individuals and companies with this mindset are generally on the cutting edge of their industry being leaders.

Keep the right mindset and follow through with  action. A portion of experience can be gained through reading and watching, but muchalso  comes from the doing so be proactively brave! Build creativity one day at a time. Creativity is a steady progress.

Creativity should be fun. Do what you can do and get help with the rest. We’re happy to help you in your creative endeavors.
